I just read the wonderful Celeste Liddle's latest post in which she makes the following point in passing:
"even though the Muslim connection to this land mass predates white invasion by up to an estimated 200 years"
Not that I doubted her, but I was curious about the spread of Islam into Indonesia. It turns out it was brought to Indonesia in the 13th Century and had become the dominant religion by the 16th century.
And it's no secret that Northern Australians were trading with Indonesia hundreds of years before British invasion.
Just an interesting point so thought I'd share it. I obviously need to brush up on my Asian history.
